In any crisis, we are always looking for “heroes”--people who, by their calling, respond to the occasion with unwavering dedication, even if it means putting their lives on the line.
Our present situation with COVID-19 is no exception. Health care workers, first responders and providers of essential services have become our “heroes” by the way they have been helping us to deal with the deadly threat of the pandemic.
As a church, we give thanks to God for them and continue to support them in what they do with our prayers. In some ways, their dedication also reminds us of the ultimate self-giving love of God--Christ’s giving of himself on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins.
